Diverse experience in NYC as bilingual special education teacher,

K to 12. Areas of interest and experience include ESL, language
development, literacy, curriculum development, and school reform. |

Bayer, School Development Coach , Ed. D., worked as a teacher and a
principal at the Met School in Providence RI for six years. Prior
to the Met, Amy taught in schools and nonformal education programs
in Massachusetts and in NYC. She is passionate about using the
outside community to create authentic project-based learning and
is committed to creating small, personalized schools where students
play an active leadership role. |

Schools as a bilingual teacher, curriculum specialist, primary
education coordinator and principal of the K-8 Cambridgeport School.

Brenda Lewis-Collins, Director of School Redesign, was principal of a successful turnaround middle school in New Britain, CT. Before then, she was an assistant principal of both a middle and a high school, and a secondary English teacher. She has conducted training in data driven decision making, linking school improvement planning and classroom instruction, differentiated instruction, SIOP model for English Language Learners, and interdisciplinary instruction. |

Arnold
Clayton, Ph. D., School Development Coach , works with teachers to
develop strategies where all students become self-directed, engaged,
skillful learners. For 32 years in Cambridge he worked with immigrant
youth and their families and taught social studies and history
courses in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Haitian Creole. He
also founded and led the Academy, a Small Learning Community,
and served as a restructuring coordinator. |

Irene Herrera-Stewart, Director, served as the Administrator of Instruction supervising K-12 curriculum/ instruction for the schools in Local District 7 of the LAUSD. She has also served as a middle school principal and assistant principal. She has worked as a parent/ community advisor, English Language Learner Program advisor and a facilitator of professional development. She is committed to ensure that every child receives a quality, rigorous, standards-based education in a community school. |

Anita Moultrie Turner, Program Director, has previously been Literacy Director at Urban Education Partnership, the Secondary Principal at the Accelerated School (a charter school), and program coordinator for DELTA (Design for Excellence: Linking Teaching and Achievement). Within LAUSD, she has also been a teacher, mentor teacher, and instructional advisor. |

Esmeralda Mora, Field Director, has been a Secondary Literacy Leadership Partner for UCLA, a Teaching and Learning Specialist for the Los Angeles Educational Partnership, and a coach for the Achievement Council. She has also overseen migrant education for the San Joaquin County Office of Education and been a Spanish language high school teacher. |

Molly Arevalo, Recruitment & Placement Director (incoming), has served as a bilingual teacher and mentor in public and charter schools, and has been an adult ESL teacher. She earned Master’s degrees in Bilingual/Multicultural Education and in TESOL from CSULA. She has been an Instructional Advisor for Teacher U, and is an alumna of Teach For America. |

based curriculum implementation, and museum exhibit design; passionate

Pamela Stazesky, Senior Research Associate. Ph.D. in Educational Psychology focused on quantitative research methods. She has taught mathematics at the middle and high school level as well as college. Areas of expertise include program evaluation, assessment, data-informed decision making, and statistics. |

to multiculturalism and to maintaining high expectations for students.

Rugen, Publications, has worked at CCE since 1997
as writer, change coach, and program director of the national Turning
Points network. Her other education experience includes Expeditionary
Learning, the New York City Outward Bound Center, and teaching English
and writing in public school. She received her M.A.T. in English

With a background in both office administration and human services, Alethea is part administrator, part office machine technician, and even a little bit counselor when needed.
